uclpals_experimental_psychology_image

This project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and in collaboration with Dr Chunliang Yang (Beijing Normal University), will aim specifically to investigate the conditions in which tests and quizzes enhance learning and retention of new information prospectively. The research will increase knowledge of the boundary conditions of the forward testing effect and assess whether retrieval can be employed as a practical method for consolidating learning and memory inside and outside the classroom.

UCL hosts one of the foremost experimental cognitive psychology research communities in the world, and the Experimental Psychology Research Department is centrally placed within the university, with state-of-the-art facilities for conducting behavioural research and close connections to UCL’s cognitive neuroscience, language, and other related research units.

This post in funded for 3 years in the first instance.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to have a PhD in psychology, cognitive science or a related area as well as extensive experience of research in human learning and memory. Applicants should demonstrate advanced knowledge in cognitive psychology and have experience in designing, conducting and analysing psychological experiments. Dear colleagues,

From July 5th to 9th, 2020, we will host the II Workshop ‚ÄúInterplay between Parental Care and Sexual Selection‚ÄĚ that will take place at ‚ÄúHotel Fazenda Fonte Colina Verde‚ÄĚ, S√£o Pedro, state of S√£o Paulo, Brazil.

The main goal of the event will be to provide a relaxed environment where researchers with diverse backgrounds, at different career stages and using different approaches (from theoretical models to empirical studies on a wide variety of taxa) can exchange ideas, discuss recent developments in the field, and propose directions for future projects. As plenary speakers, we invited prominent international researchers, responsible for major theoretical and empirical contributions about the theme of the event.

As with the first edition of the event, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, no registration fee will be charged from participants. Thus, we expect to make the event as affordable as possible and to promote a greater participation of graduate students. Participants will pay only for accommodation, which includes breakfast and two daily meals. Additionally, due to the ease of access, either by land or by air, to the city of S√£o Paulo, the workshop is expected to receive a large number of participants from Latin American countries where behavioral ecology research is well developed.

For more information about the event, see the website www.workshop-pcss2.weebly.com or send an email to one of the organizers.
